Meta took action in Iran by deactivating 22 Facebook accounts, 21 Pages, and 7 Instagram accounts. These accounts were discovered to be conducting activities aimed at audiences in Iran and Turkey. The people behind these accounts had formed a network and were sharing links to their websites across various social media platforms, the company stated in its report.

2. Turkey:

In Turkey, Meta escalated its efforts by removing 34 Facebook accounts, 49 Pages, 107 Groups, and 12 Instagram accounts. These accounts were primarily focused on domestic audiences within the country. Furthermore, Meta suspended 60 Facebook accounts, 37 Pages, 2 Groups, and 20 Instagram accounts that were similarly targeting local audiences.

In China, Meta also took action, deleting thousands of accounts there. This comprised 9,54 Pages, 15 Groups, 7,704 Facebook Accounts, and 15 Instagram Accounts. Meta’s investigations turned up connections between these accounts and people connected to Chinese law enforcement.

4. Russia:

Meta also addressed issues in Russia by removing some Facebook and Instagram profiles that were involved in inappropriate behaviour. These accounts were largely used to erode support for Ukraine. Meta’s decision to delete these accounts in Russia was motivated by a desire to limit operations aimed at undermining Ukraine’s international backing.
