Acids, Bases, and Salts: Definitions based on H⁺ and OH⁻ ions, general properties, neutralization reactions, pH scale significance, and the preparation and uses of compounds like sodium hydroxide, bleaching powder, baking soda, washing soda, and plaster of Paris.

Metals and Non-Metals: Properties, reactivity series, formation and properties of ionic compounds, basic metallurgical processes, and methods of corrosion prevention.

Carbon Compounds: Covalent bonding, versatility of carbon, homologous series, nomenclature of compounds with functional groups (halogens, alcohols, ketones, aldehydes, alkanes, alkynes), differences between saturated and unsaturated hydrocarbons, chemical properties (combustion, oxidation, addition, substitution), and an overview of ethanol, ethanoic acid, soaps, and detergents.

2. World of Living (25 Marks):

Life Processes: Fundamental concepts of nutrition, respiration, transport, and excretion in plants and animals.

Control and Coordination: Tropic movements in plants, introduction to plant hormones, nervous system functions in animals, types of actions (voluntary, involuntary, reflex), and chemical coordination via animal hormones.

Reproduction: Modes of reproduction in plants and animals (asexual and sexual), reproductive health, family planning methods, and awareness about HIV/AIDS and women’s health during childbearing.

Heredity and Evolution: Principles of heredity, Mendel’s laws of inheritance, and basics of sex determination.

3. Natural Phenomena (12 Marks):

Light Reflection and Refraction: Reflection by curved surfaces, image formation by spherical mirrors, concepts of center of curvature, principal axis, principal focus, focal length, mirror formula, magnification, laws of refraction, refractive index, refraction by spherical lenses, lens formula, and power of lenses.

The Human Eye and the Colourful World: Functioning of the human eye, vision defects and their corrections, applications of spherical mirrors and lenses, refraction through prisms, dispersion, scattering of light, and related daily life applications.

4. Effects of Current (13 Marks):

Electricity: Concepts of electric current, potential difference, Ohm’s law, resistance, resistivity, factors affecting resistance, series and parallel combinations of resistors, heating effects of electric current, and electric power calculations.

Magnetic Effects of Current: Magnetic fields and field lines, magnetic effects of current-carrying conductors, coils, solenoids, force on current-carrying conductors, Fleming’s left-hand rule, and basics of direct and alternating current, including domestic electric circuits.

5. Natural Resources (5 Marks):

Our Environment: Ecosystem dynamics, environmental issues, ozone layer depletion, waste management solutions, and differentiation between biodegradable and non-biodegradable substances.

Study Guidelines and Instructions:

Study Guidelines and Instructions:

Prioritize High-Weightage Units: Allocate more study time to units like “Chemical Substances – Nature and Behaviour” and “World of Living,” as they carry the most marks.

Master NCERT Textbook: Thoroughly read and understand each chapter, solve all in-text and end-of-chapter questions, and pay special attention to key concepts and solved examples.

Regular Practice of Numerical Problems: Dedicate time daily to practice numerical problems, especially in Physics and Chemistry, focusing on units, conversions, and correct application of formulas.

Revise Diagrams Frequently: Practice drawing and labeling diagrams accurately, as they are crucial in subjects like Biology and Physics.

Understand and Memorize Formulas and Derivations: Create a list of important formulas and derivations, review them regularly, and understand the logic behind each step.

Solve Previous Years’ Papers: This will familiarize you with the exam pattern, question types, and help in time management.

Effective Time Management: Develop a study schedule that includes dedicated time for each unit, regular revisions, and breaks to avoid burnout.

Stay Calm and Confident: Maintain a positive attitude, practice relaxation techniques, and ensure adequate rest before the exam.

Here are 10 important topics and long-answer type questions for Class X (2025) Biology that may be expected in exams. These questions are based on common topics in the CBSE/ICSE or similar curricula:

1. Photosynthesis
   – Explain the process of photosynthesis in plants. Include the chemical equation, the role of chlorophyll, and the importance of sunlight. How do factors like light intensity, carbon dioxide concentration, and temperature affect the rate of photosynthesis?

2. Respiration
   – Describe the process of aerobic and anaerobic respiration. Compare the two processes and explain their significance in living organisms. Include the chemical equations for both types of respiration.

3. Human Digestive System
   – Explain the human digestive system with a well-labeled diagram. Describe the role of each organ (mouth, stomach, small intestine, liver, pancreas, etc.) in the digestion and absorption of food.

4. Circulatory System
   – Describe the structure and function of the human heart. Explain the process of double circulation in humans. How does the circulatory system help in the transportation of oxygen, nutrients, and waste materials?

5. Nervous System
   – Explain the structure and function of the human nervous system. Describe the role of neurons, synapses, and the brain in coordinating body activities. How do reflex actions work? Provide an example.

6. Reproduction
   – Compare and contrast asexual and sexual reproduction. Explain the process of reproduction in flowering plants, including pollination, fertilization, and seed formation. How does human reproduction occur?

7. Heredity and Evolution
   – Explain Mendel’s laws of inheritance with suitable examples. How do traits get expressed in organisms? Discuss the role of DNA and chromosomes in heredity. Also, briefly explain the theory of evolution by natural selection.

8. Excretory System
   – Describe the structure and function of the human excretory system. Explain the process of urine formation in the kidneys. How do kidneys help in maintaining homeostasis in the body?

9. Control and Coordination in Plants
   – Explain how plants coordinate and respond to their environment. Discuss the role of plant hormones like auxins, gibberellins, and cytokinins. Provide examples of tropic movements in plants.

10. Environmental Management
   – Discuss the importance of sustainable management of natural resources. Explain the role of forests and water resources in maintaining ecological balance. How can we reduce our ecological footprint?

These questions cover a wide range of topics and are designed to test your understanding, analytical skills, and ability to explain concepts in detail. Make sure to practice diagrams and labeled explanations wherever necessary!
