Astronaut Sunita Williams Shares Positive Message to SpaceX CEO Elon Musk and President Donald Trump By Supreme Education

Elon Musk recently shared a video on X, previously known as Twitter, featuring NASA astronauts Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore. The astronauts, who had been stranded in space, expressed their gratitude towards SpaceX CEO Elon Musk and former US President Donald Trump.
Both Musk and Trump posted the video on their respective social media platforms, X and Truth Social.
Astronauts Express Gratitude
In the video shared by Musk, Sunita Williams conveyed a positive message: “We are coming back before long, so don’t make those plans without me. We’ll be back before too long.” Musk’s tweet included heart and rocket emojis. Butch Wilmore also expressed his appreciation: “We all have the highest regard for Mr. Musk and quite obviously respect and admiration for our President of the United States, Donald Trump. We thank them, we thank all that they do for us, human spaceflight for our country, and we’re grateful for the positions they hold.”
President Trump’s Response
President Trump responded to the situation with a promise to assist the astronauts: “We love you and we’re coming up to get you, and you shouldn’t have been up there so long. The worst president we ever had has permitted that to be done to you. I have approved Elon Musk to go and bring them home, and he is ready to do it.”

Return Plans Finalised
The much-anticipated return of Williams and Wilmore is scheduled for March 18. NASA and SpaceX convened on Sunday to evaluate weather conditions off Florida’s coast for a safe splashdown. Mission managers are targeting a favourable return window with plans for a splashdown on March 18 at night.
The expected splashdown time is around 5:57 PM off Florida’s coast on March 18. NASA has built in flexibility to accommodate potential weather changes or other operational factors.
Reasons Behind Delayed Return
The return of Williams and Wilmore was initially planned after a week-long mission starting June 5 from Cape Canaveral as test pilots for Boeing’s new Starliner capsule. However, due to numerous issues with the capsule, NASA decided it would return empty in September. A SpaceX flight was arranged for their return initially set for February.
This incident gained political attention when President Trump and Elon Musk committed to expediting the astronauts’ return. Trump criticised former President Joe Biden’s administration for neglecting the astronauts’ situation.
However, it was clarified that Williams and Wilmore were already scheduled to return on a SpaceX flight before Trump’s public remarks. The astronauts’ safe return marks an important milestone in human spaceflight efforts led by NASA and SpaceX.
